daytona fest highlights, parts 2 and 3:

the fest overall was pretty good. just waaayyy too many bands (46 i believe!), and right now the idea of sitting through another band makes me want to die.
on the plus side, i've gotten to see tons of rad kids that i haven't seen in forever! sweet!

we left montreal at 9AM, i was up until 4AM having funny conversations with heather and getting ready to take off. we made it back to allentown after 10 1/2 hours in the car. the border thought dave's vegetable oil system in his car was a bomb. we did a 180 on the highway and i nearly shat my pants. it made me have flashbacks back to driving across the country last winter with jeff when the same exact thing happened to us. icy roads + driving = bad combination.
it's weird to be back in the US. it's strange to say that since i have only lived in canada since august, but it feels a bit off to be here. i feel like montreal has become my home and i already miss it a bunch.
massachusetts = wednesday, probably. let's hang out.

ps- in other news, the past few days have brought about ridiculously cute things, such as 20 toddlers tied together walking down the street singing in french, and a fluffy dog playing the snow and being silly.

today as i was studying at school there was this girl next to me, and every few minutes her 'fiance' (as i found out later) would come over and stand over her and talk down to her and just act like a total jerk. he would walk away and she would look upset/confused and continue doing her work. then he would come back and the cycle would continue.

i had the weirdest dreams ever last night -
1) i was telling my roomates about a music video for our band, chill out, in which the three of us would be sitting around in the kitchen talking about a party at our house that weekend. i ask them 'do you mind if my friend david comes and brings some friends?' they answer, 'of course not, whatever'. so fast forward to the party a few days later, and there's knock at the door, but before i can answer it, the door is kicked down and its david lee roth and 20 dudes all wearing varsity jackets! david walks in and says 'its time for the varsity chill, dudes!' and then a camaro drives thru the wall and destroys my house, but its all good cuz the trunk opens up and its completely full of sodas and ice.
best dream ever.
2) I was going to get married at city hall here in montreal and i realized that i should wear something nice, but i dont have any nice clothes. so i put on a tie that i dumpstered and my flannel and my carhartts and try to look presentable. so we get to city hall and the wedding starts, but it's all in french and my french isn't so good so i was stumbling over my words and i couldnt remember how to say 'i do' and heather and i were just laughing at the whole thing a lot.

i will be in Florida on dec. 27th, until jan. 4. let's hang out while i'm there. dec. 28-30 (at least) is daytona for the fest.
today is thanksgiving in the USA, and i'm here in canada and i have to go back to school and take a final in a few minutes.
i can't stop thinking that i'm going to get hit by a car while riding my bike. for the past week every time i leave the house i think "well, this is it, i'm going to get nailed, but i just gotta brace myself and take it and i'll be okay." montreal drivers are really crazy. almost getting hit is just part of the motions of riding in this city.

the past few days have been amazing. these days have brought back this rush of feelings which had remained dormant in me for so long....i'm feeling happy and falling asleep at night with a smile on my face feels good. click.
my first semester back in school is coming to a close already and i'm real busy, but doing okay. its hard to readjust to the bureaucracy that is university. but i feel like being here, now, in montreal is really good for me and i'm excited about being here for a while.
its really dark and cold here, but the plan is to get some soda, read some books, and listen to 70's hard rock, cuz that's what i do.

its winter here now. it has snowed twice this week already. i have been really busy lately which hasnt been good since i am sick, but oh well. things that have been good about this week....
-albany kids visiting.
-inepsy, ballast, la fraction, and the oldest old guy band ever (seriously, they had a song called 'i used to have a mohawk, now i have a mustache') show at the loud house.
-talk/hang with heather
-volunteering/making 100 sandwiches for le frigo vert
-doing work with open door books (books to prisoners)
-talking with miranda.
-hangin with greg a lot, listening to ridiculous records.
-becoming obsessed with later/obscure black sabbath records (seriously, put on born again or headless cross, and theres NO way you can tell me that they dont rule balls)
-seeeing mirah/the weeds play in dave's living room and the mix tape exchange that followed the show.
-learning to become more friendly with strangers, even if they aren't punk/hardcore/traveling kids. (only took me 20 years, eh?)
-seeing alkaline trio/reggie the other day (free tix!) - well actually, the show was pretty weak, but whatevs, it was free.
-making plans for a trip to INDIA next summer! 6 weeks, i think! insane!!! im so pumped! india+tour=kyle traveling all summer,=kyle happy.
i really can't believe that i managed to jam that much stuff, on top of school, into a week! only 3 weeks of school left! dec. 9 = last final, to allentown, then MA, then FL then back to QC! bah!
come to a show at my house (2106 bleury, mtl.) on nov. 23 w/ raise the curtain(boston), ballast (mtl.) and my band, chill out! shit's gonna be tight!
ok, now turn up "trashed" real loud and sing along!

highlights of last night...riding around the city with julia, going on a theater roof(6 stories up), writing a huge "sXe crew GO! xChill Outx" on an air conditioning vent, then dumpstering 5 packs of tofu dogs, soy milk, apple cider and veggie pate.
shit was off the hook. i'm gonna miss julia and sarah when they leave.
in other news, montreal is the new boston, and 20 is the new 18. oh, and, doom is the new infest, whereas straight edge is the new crust.

so its been about a month since i last looked at this....here's a brief run down of the past weeks events if any of you are interested....
i started going to university again, and after 4 weeks, i am still getting used to having to get up and go to school a couple of days a week. i think its good for me though, most of my subjects are interesting, and i have to read sooo much. its pretty insane.
i have made a few really great new friendships here in montreal.
kids here like to party and get loaded and dance crazy to andrew wk. i'm the only one who doesn't drink, but that's okay, i have fun just laughin and smilin and makin conversation with people who probably don't remember a thing im sayin'.
i'm in the process of making a info zine right now about vasectomy. if you want copies to give out for free to your friends or distro or bookstore, please contact me. or if you can hook me up with some free copying, let me know as well. it will be available in both french and english, so let me know what language you are more comfortable with.
anyways, real life is far more exciting than typing on this. later.

yes, so as of a few days ago, my current base of operations is now montreal, quebec, CANADA! crazy!
i live in a very weird house with three very lovable characters, and things in general are good for the most part. did i mention that i live in a walk in closet? yes, that is sweet. so far i have spent most of my time walking around and not being able to understand anything, which is kind of nice in a way, but also very strange. it already feels like fall here and it is nice. summer is already over in a hurry. whew! where did it go?

62 miles the other day from concord, NH to brattleboro, VT. 52 today from brattleboro to fitchburg, MA. on our bikes.
we slept in a crazy half built house in the middle of the woods, went swimming a bunch, got stung 13 times by yellowjackets (worst thing ever!), a 40 year old man invited me to drink wine with him in his hotel room, lots of free food....ah yes, summer is back in full effect!
vermont is the bomb.
